We can’t thank you enough for choosing to live at Hali. It’s an honour to have you join us as the very first members of this exciting community. It’s also such a fantastic time of year to enjoy the locality of Cherrywood and get into your new routine. With that in mind, we thought it might be useful for you to have some homemaking, how-to and guidance to get you going.

The kitchen really is the heart of the home. Nothing makes a house feel like a home faster than sharing a meal or simply having coffee with a friend. If you can muster up some help, write down what goes where on post it notes and stick them to each cupboard. You can keep these stuck on until you become more familiar with your fabulous new kitchen.

Although your apartment will be given over to you in spanking order, it’s nice to give it a little once over when you move in. It can also be very therapeutic and part of the bonding with the new space. Don’t miss out on important postal deliveries. An Posts Redirection Service will forward your post to your new Hali address. Make sure to return your application and payment, at least five days before you want the service to start. You never know, you could miss an inheritance cheque in the post!

Big changes such as a house move can have an impact on kids and make them feel unsettled. A simple way to help make this a positive experience is to focus on their spaces first. Ask for their opinions on the furnishing of their bedroom and prioritise unpacking their items so that they know where all their favourite clothing and toys are located.

Like kids, pets too can experience anxiety when moving to a new home. To maintain a familiar smell, don’t wash their bedding or toys for a few weeks. Do your best to stay on a consistent schedule and try to stay home as much as you can to help them feel safe and secure in their new home. Treats always help and we have a selection for your furry friends in the lobby!

Familiarise yourself with your new appliances and discover where all the important points in your apartment are. Our team have compiled a series of videos accessible through our Hali Resident App to take you through each and every one of them. We also have a detailed Hali Resident Guide located within the app with hard copies available in our Management Suite in the lobby area.

You can find a great neighbourhood page on our website to help to familiarise yourself with the immediate location. We also have the ‘Hali Things to do’ guide which details the top sights within a 10-15 minute radius from Cherrywood. This is available on the Hali Resident App.

Reading about the locality is great, but you also need to physically acclimate yourself to your new surroundings. Take a stroll around Cherrywood to find what markets, services, bus stops, parks, and trails are within walking distance. Can you find shortcuts to some of your favourite local cafés or shops? Is there a playground or market within biking distance? Why not rent a Yuko vehicle and get familiar with the streets.

You’ve accomplished something great by moving into a brand new home! Take time to enjoy that big step with an intentional act of reflection and relaxation. Do something positive that makes you feel connected to your new home and the people you share it with.

When you’re ready, invite others to share in your celebration. Take advantage of the amenity spaces available by booking off one of our amazing Club Houses or Social Spaces to celebrate the occasion.
