Calling all super parents!
As we’ve bid farewell to September and are settling into the school year, we’ve been looking for ways to make this academic journey extra special for your little ones. We’re here to guide you with some valuable hacks that can turn the mundane into something truly magical. From ensuring smooth mornings to creating enjoyable homework sessions, we’ve got six fantastic tips to help you and your kids ace this school year.
Smooth operator
Don’t just jolt your kids out of bed with a siren-like alarm. Make the mornings delightful with their favourite breakfast treats and perhaps a quick family yoga session. If the thoughts of organising morning yoga make your anxiety reach another level, why not simply pick out their favourite wake-up song for their alarm.
Hack the lunchbox
Plan and pack the first week’s meals together, and throw in a couple of surprise treats or love notes for good measure. Follow @thecoolfoodschool and @liliforberg on Instagram for simple and fun recipes. When it comes to packing, we love the sustainable lunchboxes by Yumbox and Mintie.

Make time to talk
Set aside some quality family time to chat about the highs and lows of the first weeks. It’s a good time to validate their feelings and celebrate their triumphs big and small. This could be a little trip out for babycinos in the local coffee shop, baking in the kitchen, or a simple walk in the park together to process those first weeks. Nothing beats a bit of bonding!
Daily affirmations
Post a daily ‘Affirmation of the Day’ on the fridge, wardrobe, or in their lunchbox. Phrases like ‘You got this!’ or ‘Today’s your day!’ can boost confidence and morale like nothing else. Even if we as parents get a little kick or inspiration out of it, it makes all the difference.
Social mojo
Equip your little ones with a few ice-breakers for that new classroom setting. Teach them the art of small talk—it’s not just for cocktail parties! Do you have any pets? What’s the last movie you watched? If you could be any superhero, who would you be? Practicing with them could also help them feel more at ease, and help kids get to know their classmates and teachers better, making the environment feel less intimidating.
Homework HQ
We love the idea of dedicating a serene and inspiring corner of the home as the ‘Homework or Activity Headquarters’. Jazz it up with fun stationary and motivating quotes. Bonus points for a colour-coded calendar to help them keep track of homework.

There you have it! Six easy but impactful ways to make the back-to-school transition not just bearable, but actually delightful for your kids. Here’s to a year full of learning, laughter, and happy memories!
