Behind the scenes at Hali

At Hali, we firmly believe that the true essence of any company lies within its people. Join us on our meet the team series and embark on a journey of discovery as we introduce you to the extraordinary individuals who make Hali the fantastic company it is today.

Today we’re chatting with Scott, the Community Coordinator at Hali. In July 2022, when the first set of residents moved into the Hali community, Scott was just as new to the place as they were. He had recently transitioned from a career in hospitality, stepping into the landscape of property management. If you’re curious about why he made the leap, it comes down to one word: community. To Scott, Hali sounded like the perfect company with a genuine objective to create a sense of belonging among its residents, and that struck a chord with his background in hospitality.

What excites you about working with Hali?

What’s great about working at Hali is the level of freedom and creativity given to each of us. My colleagues are like-minded, we all believe good culture is everything. Our mission is to create communities that foster wellbeing and connected living, and I get to contribute my vision to that every day. We’ve expanded month on month and we’re now at over 1,100 residents so there’s always something new and interesting to dive into when it comes to evolving the community for the better.

What does it take to be a Community Co-ordinator?

Be empathic, reliable, responsive, professional and have a high level of attention to detail. Simply, I treat residents in a way that I would want to be treated. Residents need to know that they can count on you. This builds trust, which is essential for any long-term relationship. I’m now referred to as ‘Scottie’ by a lot of our residents and it’s makes my day when we receive a positive review on our level of service. It really elevates the team so it’s important to celebrate that.

Tell us something we don’t know?

I’m a trained mixologist. You may have seen my feature on page 10 of Connect – The Adventure Issue. I created an array of delicious bespoke Hali cocktails for residents to enjoy over the summer. I have a great knowledge of spirits, bitters, and syrups to achieve the perfect balance of flavour. I’m firmly a fave friend for party invitations!

I also lead residents on a weekly Friday run (weather pending of course!) This is a great way to connect to the community and keep healthy at the same time. The three recently opened parks (Beckett, Tully and Ticknick) have made all the difference to the local area, and residents are a lot more inclined to get out given we’re just minutes from these amazing parks.

What do you love about your day-to-day life at Hali?

If there’s something that gives me pure joy at work, it’s welcoming new residents into the Hali community and seeing their faces when they arrive at their new homes. We don’t just hand over their keys; we bring them into a close knit community, with an onsite team that care. We have an open door policy, and I believe this truly makes our communication and relationships better with our residents.

Fun facts!

  • I got to rub shoulders with many celebrities in my former job to include Colin Farrell, José Mourinho, and the New Zealand rugby team.
  • I’m a rocking mixologist as you now know.
  • I’ve starred in many of the Hali videos and photoshoots, they just can’t get enough of my pearly whites!

Stay tuned for more stories from the “Meet the Team” series, as we continue to introduce you to the individuals who shape Hali.
